Nancy Helm Weeks is an accomplished artist based in Southern California, known for her vibrant illustrations and captivating artwork. Born in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario, Nancy's artistic journey began early in her childhood. She discovered her passion for drawing when her mother would set up still life arrangements for her to sketch. It was during this time that she developed her keen eye for detail and honed her artistic skills.
During her upbringing, Nancy had the opportunity to live in various locations, including Nebraska, Northern California, Korea, and Ohio. Each place left a lasting impression on her artistic sensibilities and influenced her diverse range of artistic styles and techniques.
In Northern California, Nancy studied watercolor painting, exploring the medium's fluidity and expressive qualities. Her time in Korea provided her with the invaluable opportunity to delve into oriental brush painting, a discipline that shaped her understanding of balance, harmony, and the elegant simplicity of brushwork.
Alongside her artistic pursuits, Nancy pursued a career in healthcare. After graduating with a degree as a registered nurse, she worked in the Emergency Department, where she encountered various emotions and experiences that would later find their way into her artwork.
Driven by her creative passion, Nancy returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Illustration. This formal education expanded her artistic horizons and allowed her to refine her skills as a versatile artist whose style brings a romantic softness to photorealism.
During her 42-year career as a registered nurse, her love for art never waned.  She continued to paint in her spare time, accepting commissions and selling her originals and reproductions on platforms such as Etsy and Fine Art America.  Upon retiring from nursing, she was free to pursue her artistic career full-time.  Her first project was to publish a children’s picture book which, along with others, is now available on Amazon.
Beyond her artistic endeavors, Nancy finds solace in nature. She enjoys spending time hiking with her husband and their German Shepherd, immersing herself in the beauty of the outdoors. Cycling is another passion that allows her to explore new landscapes and find inspiration in the world around her.
